Living Manna, Free Hot Meal

We have a free hot and nutritious meal called Living Manna every Wednesday  at 5:00 p.m. that is open to all. There is no qualifier for coming to Living Manna and enjoying a free hot and nutritious meal. This is Calvary’s gift to the community of Lemoyne and the surrounding area, so please join us and enjoy some great food! The kitchen and dining room are on our lower level so it is easiest if you come in through the back door, and go down a short flight of stairs to the fellowship hall. For those who desire other access please call the church phone (717) 737-6921 to arrange for someone to show you the entrance and help you with the elevator.

Calvary Does National Night Out

Calvary joined forces with the West Shore Regional Police Dept. in August, 2011 to celebrate National Night Out.  NNO is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is the nation’s largest, annual crime prevention event in the country. It involves over 36 million people in 15,000 different communities from all fifty states.

It happens on the first Tuesday each August. The event gives individuals, cities, law enforcement agencies, neighborhood groups and community organizations the opportunity to come out and get to know one another. Common celebrations include block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local police, potlucks, youth events and safety exhibits. Participants, whether they be neighborhoods, police departments or other organizations, are passionate about National Night Out!

The night is designed to:
*Heighten crime prevention awareness;
*Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
*Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and;
*Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Participants, whether they be neighborhoods, police departments or other organizations, are passionate about National Night Out!

Calvary is proud to be a part of this community building effort!!!

Free Clothing Closet/Hot Lunch

The Calvary Church Clothes Closet  is open every third Saturday between the hours of 11am and 1pm. The next closet will be Saturday, March 16th, and the clothing is free. Almost all sizes of clothing for men, women and children are available.  We also have some dress clothing such as sport coats, suits, etc. for those who may need something for job interviews. We would also love to help you recycle your clean and gently used clothing, which is accepted at the church by calling the church office at 717-737-6921 or get in touch with Gwyn Richards at 717-761-4841. We are always in need of infant clothing and now would like to accept fall and winter clothing.

Along with clothing, a free lunch is offered to all who come. The hot, filling lunches are prepared and served by members of Calvary church. We pray this ministry would be a blessing to those who are in need.

Prayer Box Ministry

Calvary UMC has installed a prayer box outside the doors of the church near the bus stop. It includes prayer request slips and pencils for folks to give us their requests. The requests are prayed for by the pastor, put in the weekly bulletin, and lifted up on Sunday during worship. There is also a place to put a name and phone number should someone like a call from the pastor.
